About the Opportunity

Med-Search Recruiting is representing a growing international organization expanding its U.S. operations and seeking a proactive, hands-on Senior Logistics Specialist to support its international supply chain and domestic distribution activities.

This is an opportunity for an experienced logistics professional who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems, and keeping operations running smoothly. You'll play an active role in coordinating shipments, following up on open orders, working directly with third-party logistics providers, and resolving day-to-day operational challenges.

We're looking for someone who doesn't simply monitor shipments or report problems, but takes the initiative to follow through, find solutions, and ensure things get done.

What You'll Do

  • Coordinate inbound international shipments, including ocean freight and containerized imports.
  • Manage daily communication and follow-ups with freight forwarders, carriers, warehouses, and third-party logistics (3PL) providers.
  • Track open orders, shipment progress, delivery schedules, and outstanding logistics issues.
  • Proactively investigate and resolve shipment delays, delivery discrepancies, and warehouse or carrier-related problems.
  • Coordinate inbound containers and ensure timely movement of products through warehouses and distribution channels.
  • Monitor 3PL and carrier performance, using Excel to track operational metrics and report against key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Maintain accurate shipment, order, and logistics records within company systems.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support order fulfillment and domestic distribution.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and recommend practical improvements to logistics processes.
  • Take ownership of daily logistics activities and follow through on issues without requiring constant direction.

What We're Looking For

  • Relevant experience in logistics, international shipping, import operations, supply chain, or distribution.
  • Background working for an importer, distributor, wholesaler, or company managing international shipments and domestic distribution.
  • Direct, hands-on experience coordinating with 3PL providers, freight forwarders, carriers, and warehouses.
  • Familiarity with inbound container shipments and ocean freight.
  • Experience tracking open orders, following up on shipments, and independently resolving logistics issues.
  • Comfortable using Excel for shipment tracking, operational reporting, and monitoring warehouse or carrier performance against KPIs.
  • Strong experience with ERP or logistics management systems. SAP experience is a plus but not required.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A proactive and resourceful approach, with the ability to identify problems, take initiative, and see issues through to resolution.
  • Ability to work full-time, on-site at the company's downtown Chicago office.

Experience with medical supplies, disposable products, manufacturing, or wholesale distribution is helpful but not required.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This position offers the opportunity to take meaningful ownership of international logistics and domestic distribution activities within a growing U.S. operation.

You'll work closely with internal teams and external logistics partners, contribute to improving day-to-day operations, and have the opportunity to make a direct impact on how the business manages its supply chain.

If you're a logistics professional who enjoys being hands-on, solving problems, and taking responsibility for getting things done, we'd welcome a conversation.
